Who we are
Our Story
We started with Two Way Radio Communications and obtained our first community repeater Licence in 1989. Soon we became leaders in the RF Field and addressed communications problems in all fields.
In November 2001 Johan Krüger took over full management of the company. He was a former technician at Contact Communications and is well acquainted with the area and capabilities of Contact Communications. His wife, Marie, joined him in 2003 to assist him with the financial and admin side of the business. In 2013, a very young and enthusiastic technician, Craig Hilligan joined the management and become a partner in the business. In 2016, Gerhard van Aardt also became a member to address new opportunities.
Contact Communications continuously shows a very healthy growth in customers. Highly sophisticated and quality equipment is used on repeaters to ensure quality communications for better customer support. Contact Communications became one of the largest communication companies in South Africa.
With the launch of digital (DMR) technology, we add this to our list of products and become leaders with the implementing of DMR in South Africa.
The company owns 42 repeaters on 17 different high sites (3. Repeater Sites) providing excellent coverage over large areas, from as far as Phalaborwa in the North, Maputo in the East, Carolina in the South and Belfast in the West. All sites are monitored 24 hours for any malfunction and power failures to eliminate extensive down time.
Contact Communications own DMR network was recently established to bring DMR technology to the individual radio user. This network consists of 8 repeaters connected with each other via an IP network. We host and provide tracking and voice recording services to institutions like Lowveld Fire Protection Association and other individual networks and radio users.
